Message from the President of CAOBISCO and Vice – President of the International Confectionery Association

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I am delighted to invite you to attend - 27 May 2008 conference hosted by CAOBISCO with support from the International Confectionery Association (ICA).

The broader attention to food, lifestyle, health and wellness and evolving consumer demand and regulation poses, and will continue to pose, a very significant challenge to the confectionery industry in Europe and around the world. This ‘lifestyle challenge’ is driving root-and-branch change in the confectionery industry and its relationships with its suppliers, dependent industries, customers, government and the wider public.

This conference provides all stakeholders with a unique opportunity to debate and learn more about the ‘lifestyle challenge’ and how the confectionery industry has sought to meet this challenge. The conference will also examine confectionery’s context in such debates with important implications for industry and government policy.

The conference comes at a critical time as the industry looks to the future and how to retain competitiveness in an evolving business environment. I look forward to seeing you at the conference in Brussels on 27 May.
